WLS Storytime

This week, I was tasked to do a digital story time. I chose to do a podcast on my decision to have weight loss surgery. I know that seems to be a common theme with me this semester but as you can imagine, having to weigh, log and calculate all of your meals really gets in your head and takes up most of your time. Do I regret it, absolutely not! I also thought that maybe my story could be useful later, so I thought, why not. I used Audacity to record my audio and man, it was so easy to use. I may have to do it again someday. I can see how easy it is to apply audio to video and slides based on the tutorials. I really hated hearing my own voice. Warning, my recording is almost 3 minutes long. I’m happy to answer any questions about my surgery after you hear this.

  1. Hello Karin,

I have a true appreciation for your story. It is brave of you to share your weight loss story with us. Losing weight is a challenge, especially when there are underlying issues. I’m not familiar with Audacity, but after hearing your crisp, clear recording, I will find myself using it. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Karin, even after seeing some of your journey first-hand, I learned so much from your recording. I have never heard of Audacity. I’ll have to look into it because you definitely sold it.

  3. Karin,
I am so glad to hear that you were able to make a choice allowing you to put your health first. I can imagine that time in your life was very scary! I admire your dedication to the diets and the process as whole, despite all of the medical challenges that you faced. Congrats on progress and success… four clothing sizes?! WOW! That is definitely something to be proud of! I enjoyed hearing about your story, and your podcast was of great quality. Awesome job!

  4. Wow Karin! What an inspiring story. I applaud you for sharing your story with the class and I think you will be happy to have a digital storyline in the future. I have never used audacity, but the quality of the audio recording and your soothing voice, made listening a pleasant experience. I wish you continued success in your weight loss and I hope your story inspires others who are considering weight loss surgery. Congratulations!

  5. Thank you for sharing your story! I have, in the past, thought about weight loss surgery. It wasn’t something I chose, but commend anyone that does. You’re such an inspiration!
